Could you see me now
if you tried?
You've been away for so long
do you even remember
what I look like?

When you left I said
"See ya later"
and prayed.
You said "Good-bye."
    Did you mean it?

I sit here,
    right here,
day after day,
writing long love letters to you.
Some are never sent
    because you once said
you didn't like the mushy kind.
Of the ones that do find their way
into the nearest mail box
few are ever answered.

I lie awake each night and wonder
if you're just so very busy ...
or whether you just don't care.

I really wish I knew.
